NJICLE, in cooperation with CNA, has designed a special NEW program to help New Jersey attorneys gain insight on how to avoid legal malpractice claims, and to save money on legal malpractice insurance premiums - including up to 7.5% off for CNA policyholders!

CNA, the leading legal malpractice insurer nationwide, continues to study its claims data to identify the most common causes of legal malpractice claims. Based on that study, this ethical and risk management seminar is about fundamentals: laying the ground work for a safer, more solid law practice no matter what area of practice an attorney pursues. Given that perspective the seminar will focus on the key ethical and risk management tools all lawyers can and should employ to manage risk across the board. This seminar will help attendees learn about the various building blocks of good risk control and good business management, from knowing the law of lawyering and the law of ethics to learning good documentation practices, to the importance of planning for change and a few other steps along the way.

The seminar will be presented by Thaddeus “Ted” Hubert, III, Esq. As one of CNA’s preferred counsel, Ted has defended many legal malpractice cases brought against CNA policyholders. During the past decade, Ted has also presented many loss control seminars on behalf of CNA across the country, and has appeared as a keynote speaker at seminars for several State Bar Associations.

This seminar will cover many ethical & risk management topics aimed at protecting you and your clients, including…
• Why you need to know the law of lawyering so you can use it as guidance in practice rather
than only as a defense if sued.
• Why you need to know how to work with your client and manage expectations.
• Why you need to know how to record your history, keep good documentation,
and change with technology as it develops.
• Why you need to know about succession planning for your law firm including planning
for retirement or sale of a law practice.
• What you need to know about how to react to a mistake or potential mistake in
the practice of law.

How this program will benefit you:
In addition to the valuable insight you will gain from the new fact patterns and vignettes for discussion on avoiding legal malpractice claims, attendees will receive another major benefit - You will be eligible to receive a discount totaling up to 7.5% off your legal malpractice insurance premium for the next 3 years, either upon renewal of your existing CNA policy, or upon purchase of a new CNA policy. The more attorneys from your firm that attend the program, the more your firm will save!

As an attendee you’ll receive detailed information about how to apply for the discounted CNA rates (up to 7.5%).
Note: only those attorneys from your firm who attend will be eligible for a discount.
